Last week marked an important milestone for JointMedica, as the first four Polymotion® implants in India were successfully implanted by Dr Vijay Bose at SIMS Hospital, Chennai, over two days.

The procedures were supported by Dr Sharat Kusuma, President of JointMedica, and James Glover, Senior Development Engineer who were both present throughout the procedures.

Dr. Bose brings extensive experience in hip resurfacing, and his expertise, combined with the dedication of Cure Surgicals, a leading healthcare solutions provider, and the SIMS Hospital team, made this an exciting first step for Polymotion® in India.

The successful completion of these first four cases marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Polymotion® and its potential to offer a bone-preserving alternative for appropriately selected patients. Polymotion® is designed to deliver the established benefits of traditional hip arthroplasties, including bone conservation and the restoration of natural biomechanics, helping appropriately selected patients return to an active lifestyle.

Sharing his optimism for the future of hip resurfacing, Dr Sharat Kusuma said:

“It is an honor to work with Dr. Vijay Bose, and we are enormously grateful for the trust that he and SIMS Hospital have placed in JointMedica. India has created something very special: a regulatory framework that can provide appropriately selected patients access to innovative technologies, under physician guidance and CDSCO oversight, before full regulatory approval. Combine that forward-thinking approach with world-class surgeons like Dr. Bose and innovative institutions like SIMS, and you have the ingredients for something powerful. India is rapidly becoming one of the world’s most exciting hubs for MedTech innovation.”

We would like to thank Dr Vijay Bose, Dr Sharat Kusuma and the entire SIMS Hospital team for their expertise, collaboration and support in achieving this important milestone.

A significant step forward for Polymotion® in India, and an exciting journey ahead.

*Polymotion® Hip Resurfacing remains an investigational in the United States and is not approved for commercial distribution in the U.S.
