Hip Resurfacing

Polymotion® is an advancement to previous generations of HRA with novel design features.  The PHR® is an evolutionary hip resurfacing system that applies novel bone fixation and provides the low wear bearing performance of proven advanced polyethylene components, negating any of the perceived risks associated with hard-on-hard articulations.

The PHR® System is a single use device intended for hybrid fixation. The femoral head is secured to the ball joint using bone cement, and the acetabular cup is press-fit into the socket with a porous titanium coating for bone on-growth.

The PHR® System consists of:

  • a femoral head component to resurface the ball of the hip joint

  • an acetabular cup component to resurface the socket of the hip joint.

Are You The Right Candidate?

The PHR® System is a single-use device consisting of a bone cemented femoral head component and cementless acetabular component.

The PHR® System is intended for use in patients requiring primary hip resurfacing arthroplasty due to:
• non-inflammatory arthritis (degenerative joint disease) such as osteoarthritis, traumatic arthritis, or mild dysplasia/developmental dislocation of the hip (DDH) up to Crowe Grade 1.

The PHR® System is intended for patients who, due to their relatively younger age (under 65) or increased activity level, may not be suitable for traditional total hip arthroplasty due to an increased possibility of requiring future ipsilateral hip joint revision.

*The Polymotion Hip Resurfacing system is only available for general release in New Zealand.
