Ruby Garner, a Medical Engineering student from Cardiff University, visited us for an immersive training day. Having just completed her second year, Ruby is passionate about hip prosthetic development and eager to gain more experience in this field.
The day was led by our Design and Development Engineer, Gustavo Fazalzadeha, who delivered a comprehensive training session. It began with a site tour and manufacturing discussion with Michelle Evans, our Manufacturing Technician Team Leader, and our Chief Technology Officer, Roger Ashton. This was followed by a sawbones demonstration, where Ruby followed each step of our Polymotion® Hip Resurfacing Operative Technique and successfully installed both the head and cup components. The afternoon included an engineering discussion and CAD system overview, and the day concluded with a Quality Management System overview with Steve Meakins, Vice President of QA/RA.
Ruby is gearing up for her final year, where she'll undertake an individual project and dissertation to complete her Bachelor of Engineering. She's exploring the possibility of collaborating with JointMedica for her project and looks forward to any potential opportunities to aid her studies.
Stay tuned for more updates on our collaboration with the bright minds shaping the future of medical engineering!
