Surgeon Spotlight - Mr Ronan Treacy, FRCS
This months surgeon spotlight is on Mr. Ronan Treacy, FRCS.

Ronan Treacy became a consultant at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 1994 specializing in hip replacement surgery. He is especially well known for his pioneering work with Mr. Derek McMinn when they developed, what is known as the "Birmingham Hip Resurfacing" (BHR) which transformed the hip replacement procedure.
Born into a medical family he qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 1983, he now performs hundreds of hip resurfacings per year, in addition to other hip and knee procedures.
In 2008, he was recognized by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham for his outstanding contribution to Orthopedics in the city. In 2010, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Birmingham and in 2013 was elected as Staff Governor to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation Trust. In 2017 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship at the University of Worcester.
Mr. Treacy’s international practice and his presence on the world lecture circuit enable him to discuss his vast experience in the treatment of the ‘active patient’ population. His key surgical interest relates to complex revision hip replacements, hip replacement in young adults including hip resurfacing, and primary hip replacements.
Mr Treacy is a senior Consultant at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
